Why we do what we do

A native-born German from Hamburg, I myself had learned English when I first came to the United States at three years of age and could relate well to some of the issues language learners face.

A true global nomad, I have lived in Germany, the U.S., Mexico and Russia and have traveled extensively. Starting with English and German, and eventually Spanish, French and Russian, I have enjoyed instructing students of a variety of ages in a multitude of informal and formal settings, in various countries.

 

In 1990, I complete my Bachelor of Arts in Russian Studies from George Mason University. In 1993, after a year of studies in Translation & Interpreting in Germany, I returned to the States from a short sojourn in Europe to complete my Masters Degree in Secondary Education with a focus on Teaching English as a Second Language. After one year of working in a public school setting, I began teaching on a freelance basis for a number of private companies and language schools, and the government.

 

I am also an experienced, freelance translator and interpreter. For the past 30 years, I have worked with a variety of clients, including LanguageOne, Willis Inc., Kyoto News Agency, GEO Centers, MELCO Painting, the German Embassy Washington D.C., Verbalink and a variety of other private clients.

Subject matters we handle include patents, legal, financial, law enforcement, technical, medical, scientific, environmental, educational, literary, historical. We also transcribe and translate German Kurrent and Sütterlin scripts.

I have a small team of excellent, dedicated translators who work with me when the need arises.
